HR audit — an honest picture of how your company manages its people
We conduct a structured review of how your company manages its people, processes, and employment practices, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement to support business growth and performance.
Most companies know something is not working — turnover in one department, managers who avoid difficult conversations, a hiring process that loses good candidates. An audit replaces the guesswork with evidence, and tells you which problem to solve first.

What we look at
How people are hired, onboarded and kept — and where they are lost
HR documents and processes: what exists, what is used, and what exists only on paper
How managers lead day to day, and what support they get
Internal communication and how decisions reach people
Structure and roles: overlaps, gaps and unclear ownership
How we work
Scope
We agree what the audit must answer — a specific worry, or a full picture.
Collection
Interviews with management and employees, an anonymous employee survey, and a review of documents and internal data.
Analysis
We look for the causes that explain several symptoms at once, not a list of complaints.
Findings
A clear report: what works, what does not, what it costs you, and what to fix first.
What next
Recommendations ranked by impact and effort, with an honest note about what your team can do alone and what needs help.
Why companies choose Amber Axis
An outside view without an internal agenda — we have nothing to protect.
Senior consultants who have run HR functions themselves, not only advised on them.
We can also carry out what we recommend, if you want us to — without a new provider learning your company from scratch.
Frequently asked questions
How long does an audit take?
Typically four to six weeks, depending on the size of the company and how complex its HR function is.
Will employees speak openly to an outsider?
Usually more openly than to their own management — that is much of the value. Alongside the interviews we also run an anonymous employee survey, so people can say things they would not say face to face.
Do you check compliance with employment law?
We review documents and processes from an HR compliance perspective. Where a legal opinion is required, we bring in trusted legal partners.
What do we get at the end?
A structured report: where you stand today, and prioritised recommendations for what to improve.
Suspect something is wrong but cannot name it?
That is exactly what an audit is for.
